High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?
Recognising potential and developing talent
Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.
Tailored lessons
Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.
Rich opportunities and activities
Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.
Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school and across NSW.
At Rydalmere East, we recognise that high potential and giftedness appear in diverse ways across all learners. Our approach to High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is embedded in daily teaching and learning, guided by evidence-based practices, formative assessment, and purposeful differentiation designed to meet the unique needs of every student.
Our dedicated teachers identify each student’s strengths and learning needs through ongoing assessment, observation, and student self-reflection. This insight guides the design of tailored learning experiences that challenge and extend students’ abilities across key learning areas, with a strong focus on cognitive, creative, physical, and social-emotional domains.
Students engage in flexible learning pathways including enrichment activities, extension tasks, and acceleration when appropriate. We promote rich opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and student voice, encouraging risk-taking, problem-solving, and creativity within supportive classroom environments. Clear goals and regular self-assessment empower students to develop a growth mindset, resilience, and confidence.
Our educators continuously refine their skills through professional learning and collaborative planning, ensuring consistent, high-quality curriculum differentiation that benefits all learners. By nurturing the whole child, Rydalmere East is committed to fostering the potential of every student and enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
