Welcome to the Rydalmere East Preschool!
At Rydalmere East we have an on-site preschool. The preschool is for the 'prior to school year' (students must turn 4 by 31 July in the year of enrolment) and preference for placement is given to students with siblings at the school and families from our local catchment area.
Our preschool complies with the Department of Education regulations and students are given the opportunity to attend preschool for 15 hours per week. In 2020, these classes are formed based on a five day fortnight.
Class 1 (P1)
Attends Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the first week; then Monday and Tuesday in the following week.
Class 2 (P2)
Attends Thursday and Friday in the first week; then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the following week.
An appropriate educational program prepares the children for starting school life. A maximum of 20 students are enrolled in each class and are taught by a specialist Preschool teacher and a School Learning Support Officer.
An effective Kindergarten transition program has been developed to ensure a smooth progression from Preschool into their first year of big school. This includes several playsessions and orientation days in term 4.
Preschool students also participate in our whole school events, making the transition into Kindergarten a familiar and stress free experience. The preschoolers also perform at their own special end of year concert on their graduation day.
Our Preschool staff are implementing the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) into their program and have taken part in a Bilingual Language Learners research project.
Recently, the outdoor area of the preschool was upgraded to include a performance stage, a larger sandpit complete with a rubber lizard and water-play pump, as well as new garden beds.
Please don't hestitate to contact our school office on 9638 2250 to find out more about enrolling your child in Preschool.
